WHY LARRY LUCCHINO

SUCKS

 

  1. He screwed over Theo, the Red Sox, and the Nation.
  2. He didn't have the respect or cojones for the team or Theo to show up to the press conference the day after Theo left.
  3. His battle with Steinbrenner during the A-Rod fiasco. He made himself, and the Sox, look like chumps.
  4. The botched trade with the Rockies this summer ('05).  He threw Josh Byrnes under the bus when the Sox pulled out.
  5. Sunday's (10/30/05) Shaughnessy article was brimming with "Good Larry, Bad Theo" propaganda.  I believe the Herald even mentioned that Theo recognized some of the things in CHB's article as Lucchino had said those very things.  It was also leaked on several occasions that Manny has demanded a trade, despite Ramirez's and his agent's requests that such things be kept private.  And finally, on Nomar's way out, things were leaked to the Globe such as "the Red Sox had to wonder if Nomar were sticking it to them by staying out longer than he had to."  These things all have Lucchino's fingerprints on them.  It's clear that he uses the Globe to apply his spin on things that should be kept private.  The Globe is a 'spin zone', no doubt about it.   6. He has a really small &%$#@!!  Not like i have seen it, but a girl can tell. (reader Erycah Spencer)
  7. He's happy to use the media to blackball people, but when it came to facing
    the music after the Theo resignation, Theo and John Henry actually faced the
    media while Lucchino could've been hiding with the gorilla for all we knew.
  8. 86 years from now, this will be known as the Curse of the Lucchino.
  9. When standing room only seats cost $30, it's not generally not very
    cost-effective to rent out 40 empty rooms in Jose Contreras's hotel and not
    come home with a pitcher.
  10. Was that Dunkin Donuts Iced Latte really worth more than trying to hide the
    tupee?
  11. After offering 2.5 million to Billy Beane, what's up with lowballing the guy
    who's accomplished what Billy Beane has yet to do?
  12. He's an insecure micromanager who can't stand the thought of being upstaged by a subordinate. (reader Jane Dunbar)
