"I hold myself wholly responsible because you can't have the title of principal owner and not be responsible for happens with this franchise," said Henry, who spoke after Epstein and referred to him as "kindred spirit" the day he hired him three years ago. "This is a great, great loss. To lose Theo is a great loss. So I feel responsible. What could I have done? There's plenty I could have done. I have to ask myself maybe I'm not fit to be the principal owner of the Boston Red Sox.
As the reality set in that Epstein and the Red Sox were parting ways, a pale-looking Henry paused briefly to compose himself.
